I think Sinestro isnt fully aware of the power of fear JUST yet by this point.

He knows its powerful but he hasn’t discovered how to weaponize it by forming a Lantern and its subsequent Ring with pure fear.

I think the writers leaving Sinestro ALONE, stranded on an Island surrounded by FEAR inducing water, having being waterboarded in said water already and legitimately having no way out is how he’ll realize what he needs to do.

My prediction for S2: Sinestro forms the Yellow Lantern and its Ring, gets off the planet, resurrects Hal with the intention of feeding him Parallax and thats the big mystery for S2. If S1’s mystery was “How did Hal die?” S2’s mystery is gonna be “how did Hal comeback?”
