Should a healthy nation really need government permission for everything?

Why do people think an economy needs excessive government regulation to solve its problems?

Normally all that's needed is to give people room to work, build, invest, trade, hire, create, and take risks.

Government has an important role in protecting basic rights and enforcing the rules of the game. But when government keeps adding laws and regulations to every part of life, it can make ordinary people spend more time navigating the system and less time actually building something.

Competition matters. When businesses have to earn customers instead of relying on government favors or barriers that keep competitors out, they have a reason to improve. Better products. Better service. Lower costs. More innovation.

As a dad, I want my kids growing up in a country where initiative is rewarded. Where starting a business is possible. Where working hard can actually get you somewhere. Where people are trusted to make decisions for themselves and accept the responsibility that comes with freedom.

More laws don't automatically mean more order. More regulation doesn't automatically mean better outcomes.

Sometimes the healthiest thing government can do is step back and let millions of people solve problems through voluntary exchange, competition, creativity, and hard work.

A strong society needs laws that protect freedom, not a government trying to manage every decision people make.

How much more could ordinary Americans build if they had more freedom to simply get to work?
