Except he was a household name in 64 after he beat Liston, shortly after that he converted, defended his title many times, became an even bigger name, refused to step forward in ‘67. He was already famous, prior to refusing to go. You are nothing but a troll and no one is rewriting history. These are facts, you obfuscate the timeline to fit your narrative and blame white people for rewriting history when in reality that’s what you’re doing.
@Majin_Jerome@shogunace_@BradyYourTutor_ It’s a random poll you might only have 2 people that come from that culture asked, you might have 20 but the majority won’t be and the prevailing opinion will be he was a boxer.
I said 100 random people stop bringing race into it. I’m white and I know he was an activist, in fact I’d have said yes when asked if he was a philosopher. He was a great man, that’s my answer, however, majority of people aren’t that in tune with everything. You’re looking at it through your lens and perception. You gotta dumb down your expectations for the average person.
Now we can argue semantics if you want, when asked what someone is “mainly” known for it’s implied that it’s a singular thing. He can’t “mainly” be known for multiple things. I’m not even fully disagreeing with you I’m just telling you that the average American doesn’t view it the same way you do. This is why discourse is impossible. No hostility here but you’d rather fight than shift your perspective.
@shogunace_@BradyYourTutor_ By no stretch of the imagination is Ali “mainly” known for his activism, if you ask 100 random people who he was the majority will say a boxer. There’s nothing wrong with that. He was a great man outside the ring but your average person didn’t follow him that closely.
