🚨 Everton currently lead race to sign Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough. Coveted midfielder favours #EFC & if preference confirmed, club talks will follow. #THFC + #CPFC also high among contenders. #MUFC like 23yo but not expected to pursue @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/4zUeH40c3C
It’s not true that Xabi Alonso has told Tyrique George is part of his plans. There are no known conversations with any squad members at this time. Everton are still weighing up their approach with an option to buy available. https://t.co/Ps7SBeh6u5
@talking_toffees@greenallefc@maggiejane1985 Yeah I get it’s off putting, but if he comes in for 3-4 years and wins something it’s a success. Longevity would of course be a bonus, who knows what can happen if we buy into each other’s goals and ambitions. Unfortunately doesn’t look like we’re changing from Dino David soon 😶🌫️
@polioderek@talking_toffees@greenallefc@maggiejane1985 Yeah granted, but it’s more the fact that he wants to play a 3 back system with wing backs (which I am a big fan of), which we absolutely don’t have the players (especially LWB + RWB) for now.
@talking_toffees@greenallefc@maggiejane1985 Why not? Yes he’d need a lot of signings to accommodate his system, but in terms of ambition (or what we should be wanting), club size and fanbase I’d say it could work well.
@ALANMYERSMEDIA Of course history matters, you can’t escape it whenever you go to the ground and get told stories about the Everton greats and winners of past generations. The issue for me is a lack of ambition that is neglected in favour of stability, which I find damning for a club like us
@jim_keoghan Somewhat recently would be 13/14 & 14/15 Martinez, but then again people who were alive and witnessed the mid 80’s would probably say that was the last time we entertained
