I worked on this small sequence of Bonney — it was really fun!
I'm glad I had the chance to draw her during Kuma's backstory, and I want to thank all the staff who worked on the cuts after me! It turned out beautiful!
@rrrrr1g Parfois, je prends une frame que j’aime bien, un moment d’une animation/film/série qui m’inspire. Une pose, une expression, un mouvement. Et je construis autour de ça, sans pression et ça m’aide à débloquer quelque chose !

Mahiro Maeda is more known for his character and creature designs (he recently had an artbook showcasing his work), but this is one of his directorial works at Gonzo. He used to do a lot of stuff there but now he’s more associated with Khara. I’ve thought maybe Inoue would’ve worked a lot with Maeda before this, but there’s only a few projects before this that they both worked on. Regardless, Inoue’s weighty character animation is on display as always and it’s cool to see that even many years later with Look Back, he’s still got it.
