I can confirm that my car too has had its mileage reduced due to E20 fuel, despite being E20 compliant.

I purchased the Volkswagen Virtus 1.0 AT in April 2024, and I have used Speed 95 petrol from Bharat Petroleum since day one.

Here is a comparison of a full tank on my office route, both at a similar average speed of 24-25 km/h:

Pic 1 (Before E20): 588kms at 12.6kmpl
Pic 2 (After E20): 449kms at 10.4kmpl

That is roughly a 17.5% drop in mileage!

Mr. Gadkari had claimed a maximum reduction of 6%, which would have meant a mileage of around 11.84kmpl. My real world numbers are nearly 3 times worse than that!

This is the WORST time to own a petrol car, especially a turbo petrol one.

E20 Petrol Has a Bigger Problem Than Ethanol

Customers may not even be getting the expected 80% petrol if existing storage tanks aren’t fully E20-compatible.

If the government and petrol pump associations are aware of these infrastructure gaps, they need to be addressed urgently.

Fix the infrastructure first. Then mandate the fuel.

This is currently on at the Ministry at Kartavya Bhavan!!

Our Demands that we are putting forward are:

*E10 Petrol must be available for E10 compliant vehicles.

*Reduce the price of E0 (pure petrol) & ensure it is available on all petrol pumps.

*Give a 20%discount on E20 Fuel.

*Put all documents of E20Fuel policy in public domain.

*Shri Nitin Gadkari ji is in Conflict of Interest with regards to the Ethanol blending policy & this must be addressed

E 20 का गणित

चावल से भी Ethanol बनता है. सरकारी कंपनी FCI ने करीब ₹37 किलो भाव पर चावल ख़रीदा और Ethanol बनाने वाली Distilleries को करीब ₹23 किलो भाव पर बेचा. यह जानकारी सरकार ने राज्यसभा में दी है. इससे करीब ₹10 हज़ार करोड़ का नुक़सान होने का अनुमान है.

बात यहीं नहीं खत्म होती है. सरकार ने ख़ुद माना है कि तेल कंपनियाँ जिस भाव पर Ethanol ख़रीदी हैं वो पेट्रोल से ज़्यादा महंगा है. इस कारण E 20 पेट्रोल सस्ता नहीं बेचा जा सकता है. Ethanol बनाने के लिए एक तरह से सरकार सब्सिडी दे रही है, ये पैसा भी टैक्स देने वाली जनता ही चुका रही है.
