In NEET-PG 2025, candidates with scores as low as –40 out of 800 were allowed to participate in PG counselling. A negative score was considered qualifying.

These extremely low scores, at which seats were actually allotted, indicate a serious crisis in academic standards. A reasonable minimum qualifying merit must be established to maintain the integrity of medical education and the healthcare system.

Forget about dialogue or discussion. So far, neither the Government nor the Opposition has said a word about this because it does not suit their agenda, and it would affect their vote banks and political interests.

Even those who are protesting today in the name of concerns about the education system are not addressing this issue because they too have political ambitions and know that speaking about it could cost them support rather than gain it.

Reach out to your children and tell them not to get involved in illegal activities on the streets. Influencers are manipulating them into joining street protests alongside rowdy mobs prone to violence, and rioting.

When the dust settles, those influencers will go back to lip-syncing and twerking, and the rowdies will return to their hideouts. Meanwhile, your children, who got swept up in the violence thinking they were part of a revolution, will be left facing FIRs, UAPA, NSA, endless bail rejections, blacklisting, and a ruined future.

Violence has no place in a democracy. It directly violates the very Constitution these influencers claim is in danger.

In the forest of Coexistence-pura, rabbits and the wolves lived peacefully, at least according to the rabbits who kept repeating the word until they believed it.

The rabbits from Fringe-pura asked questions to the rabbits who came from Coexistence-pura: “How did your neighbour wolves stay silent when you were hunted? Why did they pretend not to see your plight? Why was your fear inconvenient for them?”

This upset the Wise Rabbits Council, the self-appointed intellectual class of rabbits who believed it was their sacred responsibility to manage everyone’s morality. They rushed back to Coexistence-pura, heads bowed, seeking permission to speak.

The desi wolves were deeply wounded. Emotionally, of course. They explained that the Pardesi wolves were to blame for everything, and mentioning what happened to rabbits would hurt the image of the desi wolves who watched quietly. They asked how the rabbits could be so insensitive, so ungrateful, so inconsiderate of the desi wolves’ reputation.

The Wise Rabbits apologised for the pain their class inflicted on the wolves by complaining when they were eaten, and returned to inform the rest:

1. WWII left Britain bankrupt, owing huge debts, making colonial administration too costly.

2. That debt was mostly from the US, which opposed old-style imperialism via the Atlantic Charter (1941) and pressured the UK to decolonize.

3. The Labour Party came to power in 1945 in the UK. It was openly anti-imperialist, seeing the empire as a burden and focusing on building the welfare state instead of maintaining colonial rule.

4. The western world was seeing a rise of anti-colonial sentiments. WWII’s rhetoric of freedom and democracy clashed with imperial rule; colonialism was increasingly seen as hypocritical and illegitimate globally.

5. The United Nations came into existence, and its 1945 Charter encouraged self-government; Britain faced international scrutiny and moral pressure to grant independence.

6. The rise of armed nationalist movements in colonies like India and Palestine made governance costly and unstable. The British army was overstretched, under-equipped, and war-weary, unable to manage widespread armed insurgencies.

As a result, Britain freed over 60 colonies after WWII, usually based on their economic value and the resources needed to control them. Only one of these had satya, ahinsa, satyagrah. If that really worked, India would have been free decades earlier; Gandhi had been waving that banner for years, and the British didn’t budge until they were broke and exhausted.

So the idea that dedi hame aazadi bina khadag bina dhaal is is simply not true.
