Just as we were still pleading for the release of the school children taken from Kebbi, another tragedy has struck. In the early hours of last night, between 1am and 3am, pupils, students, and teachers of St. Mary’s Private Primary and Secondary School in Niger State were kidnapped, and their security personnel were brutally shot. All these from Catholic schools.

This is yet another heartbreaking, unacceptable, and a painful reminder of the ongoing effort to silence, weaken, and wipe out Christian communities in parts of Nigeria, a pattern of targeted violence that cannot be ignored.

Yet even in the face of these attacks, our faith, our voice, and our hope in God must remain unbroken.
