@bdsams Depends on the use case. The OpenAI models are still there for sure too, but some of the more Agentic scenarios are the Anthropic models.

Sounds like I have some homework to make a table of which model is used where.

From January 7, 2026, Anthropic models will be enabled by default in Microsoft 365 Copilot for most commercial tenants under Microsoft’s Product Terms and Data Protection Addendum (DPA).

Powerful features like Microsoft 365 Copilot with Agent Mode in Office apps and Office Agent in Copilot chat leverage the Anthropic models. They are regarded as among the best frontier models.

In September 2025, Claude models became available in Copilot behind an opt-in toggle that required acceptance of Anthropic’s own commercial terms and DPA. That mechanism is now being retired.

Microsoft is moving Anthropic to the Microsoft subprocessor model, which means:

🟣 Anthropic operates under Microsoft’s instructions and contractual controls.
🟣 Microsoft’s DPA and Product Terms cover Anthropic's data processing.
🟣 Enterprise Data Protection rules apply.

However, Anthropic is not included in the EU Data Boundary or in-country processing guarantees.

Timeline:

Dec 8, 2025 — New Admin Toggle Released

🟣 EU/EFTA and UK: Default off. Admins must explicitly opt in to use Anthropic as a Microsoft subprocessor.
🟣 Government clouds (GCC, GCC High, DoD) and sovereign clouds: Anthropic models not available. No toggle.
🟣 All other commercial tenants: Default on.

Jan 7, 2026 — Default Enablement

🟣 If enabled, Anthropic becomes an active Microsoft subprocessor for Copilot in your tenant.
🟣 If you don’t want Anthropic models, you can opt out before Jan 7th.

The previous “opt in to Anthropic’s commercial terms” toggle is no longer used. If you previously opted in and you’re in a region where Anthropic is not default-on, you must re-opt in using the new subprocessor toggle.

Anthropic models are now available on Microsoft Foundry, but that does not imply Copilot’s Anthropic workloads run on Azure.
