As straw isn’t the most nutrient rich feedstock it likely won’t have a fertilising effect but will still sequester C. FYM once dried might work and would have a higher nutrient content… but like biosolids needs drying.
Soil sampling at the small-scale experimental plots for the @TheBiocharDemo. These plots are exploring different biochars, with repeated annual applications, on arable fields. Amazing weather for January!!

Are you an Early Careers Researcher (ECR) with an interest in biochar? The Biochar Demonstrator Flexible Fund is open until the 3/2/23.
The awards of up to £40k (80% fEC) will support projects investigating gaps in biochar research.
Our soil sampling is now underway on our trial fields!
We deployed #biochar at 10 t/ha on arable and pasture fields across England, and will be monitoring over the next 3+ years to uncover the impact biochar has on our soils!
