If you want to end people smuggling gangs, give people safe and legal routes to come into the country; assess their claims to asylum, and let the ones who qualify work to save your dying economy

I can’t help feeling that what’s happening in Gaza is the beginning of the end for all of us. If we can have a genocide live-streamed during the Super Bowl and say nothing, theres no challenge in the coming years that we won’t fail.
The ambulance that was sent to 6 year old Hind who had pleaded for help.
Found a few meters away from the car where Hind was surrounded. The burnt remains of the two paramedics inside.
The bombed the ambulance to be able to murder a 6 year old child.
@SuellaBraverman If protests about Israel’s actions in Gaza concern you more than Israel’s actions in Gaza then we are not on the same page. We’re not even in the same bookshop.
@VeraGavrilovna@angeloinchina “Evil prevails when good people do nothing” was the mantra- all seems a little obsolete now. UK protests derided by the gammon anti immigration rhetoric- what actually can anyone do?
@VeraGavrilovna@angeloinchina Wtf do we do? When a few months ago we all held the belief we could never let unfathomable atrocities happen on our watch- these were just things of the past, now 10,000 + innocent children killed in front of our eyes within weeks with the effective go ahead by our governments.
Israeli settlers attack aid trucks at Karm Abu Salem border crossing today, stopping them from entering Gaza.
Children are literally being reported as dying of starvation.
These settlers are war criminals. As are those taking funding off UNRWA.
A 14-year-old boy, Muhammad Al-Yazji, has become the sole caregiver for his 6-month-old baby sister, Toleen after his mother was killed in an Israeli shelling of her parent’s house, and he lost contact with his father.
The boy now lives in a refugee tent with his sister in Rafah, where he has been taking care of her for the past 100 days.
@chris_burns79@OliDugmore But the majority of the asylum claims made by people arriving on dinghies are eventually successful- they are legitimate refugees risking their lives via a dangerous unofficial route, it’s the route the is the problem

Could end small boats crossings and hotel check ins tomorrow by opening a processing centre in Calais.
But no one advocates that because the purpose of Rwanda or Reform’s “ideas” isn’t actually to smash gangs and save lives - it’s to demonise refugees.
