I was blessed to see @victoriamelody’s Brighton Festival Show today. It was amazing and wonderful. You’ve missed it. I recommend that you take steps never to miss one of her shows again. She is incredible and humane and works with heroic people. https://t.co/cgaPyr1rqN
One of the most iconic photographic images of the 20th century, 'Migrant Mother', 1936 by Dorothea Lange, featured the family of Florence Thompson, who allowed the photograph to be taken to aid the plight of the US working poor during the Great Depression #WomensArt
To answer some angry questions: yes I do have principles, and one of them is that it's a very bad idea to put serious opinions on Twitter. So you may as well stop haranguing me for them. All I'm saying is: there is no need to bully a sweet, jolly quizzer for playing a TV quiz.
@RestIsPolitics Please say more about Britain being very rich while having serious deterioration in education, justice, transport, welfare, etc. Visits to allegedly poorer countries make this all the more bewildering. How is 'national' wealth calculated? Whose wealth?
@DanWuori Babies are undoubtedly OFTEN adorable but they are also sometimes really grating, with shrieking, soul-crushing crying that sometimes seem absolutely resistant to being placated. May I ask what the ‘design’ Is there? Genuine question. Many thanks. Tom
Whether I count as a scientist is up for (tedious) debate but I will talk and listen to anyone anywhere who seems like they are willing to converse in good faith. I will try not to feed the trolls. Anyone else, please chat!
So, for now, I'm staying. I hope others will too. We can't, as scientists, just spend our time talking to each other. The stakes are just too high to cede the battleground of ideas, tempting as it may be. 6/6
