Civic society, faith leaders & scientists came together to make a clear statement: our govts must bridge the widening gap between promises & practical action to build a fairer, greener, healthier society for all
Scotland is united for action, and leaders must step up and act now
BREAKING: Israel’s performance at tonight's #Eurovision2024 jury show was drowned out by boos and ‘Free Palestine’ chants

#BufferZones will be debated in @ScotParl today. A really significant milestone on the journey from proposed legislation to law. We caught up with @GillianMacMSP, who proposed the bill, to talk about why safe access to abortions is so important.

Attacks on the MSP group from within a minority in the SGP membership are wild.
Protest is important, but achieving in parliament is about driving a hard bargain & the art of compromise. This didn't just happen via the BHA but everyday work of Mark & Maggie etc.
@Charles91745799 @markmcgeoghegan Forgive me Charles, but your statement lacks any form of evidence. We did a lot of work with focus groups ahead of the last Westminster & Holyrood elections that suggest you are very wrong. In fact, green voters have lent 1st votes to SNP.
@PeterAdamSmith@itvnews You are quite right Peter. The ABLA party got less than a fifth of the number of votes as the SGP at the election. Does that count as the will of the people?
Interesting where the Venn diagram of twitter users who
1. Want to abolish devolution
2. Deny climate science
3. Mock an MSP for being tearful that 2+ years of work to stop the harassment of women attending abortion services has been dropped by a hysterical FM
coalesces tonight
Personally I think it’s good if MSPs openly care about the work they do. I don’t know Gillian Mackay well and I have zero party affiliation but I’d rather have elected representatives find our politics meaningful than treat it as a game or a set of norms that render it trite.
It might be helpful to remember that the Scottish Greens polled at least five TIMES as many votes as the ABLA party at the last election, and that ABLA voters more often than not placed the Conservatives above indy-supporting parties in preference.
That the SNP is a broad church is well-known, but what we have seen this morning is a First Minister struggling to keep them all inside the tent. Ditching the coalition partners may silence voices from the right, but makes his government more vulnerable in Holyrood.
