@Dockerman3 @augerwell @MikeNahan Workers in mining environments regularly do shifts like 1 month on 1 month off, or contracts of 1-3 months before longer breaks. It is entirely doable with a bit of foresight and planning. But we didn't even ask them to wear masks or get tested each day. Horrible policy making.
@BenAylett@sophieelsworth Most people are OK with 5 days lockdown given the potential outbreak. However, the massive incompetency in policy and procedural management that lead to the potential outbreak is appalling and the criticism that will come is deserved.
@Chris__Pike @zrfk @GemmaTognini The response to a potential outbreak from the government is inconvenient but not a disaster. However, the procedural and policy errors that lead to the potential outbreak must be probed. No masks for security, working multiple jobs, no daily testing etc.
America is to modern democracy what England is to soccer. Yeah they kinda invented it, but they got all cocky and now won't change their historical structures or admit most of the developed world is better at it than them.
had always criticised the fact America didn't have compulsory voting but it turns out some people were waiting FIVE HOURS at a polling place to cast their vote.
Maybe no excuse not to do a postal ballot, but for that sort of wait time, you've gotta REALLY want it.
@GemmaTognini What gets me is that hasn't the verbal with Palmer greatly improved McGowan's reputation? Everyone hates Palmer, so this can only be a publicity stunt?
@dod1968@GemmaTognini @zrfk @MarkMcGowanMP@AssemblyWA Mark McGowan is using tax payer money to vindicate a perceived attack on his reputation. That's literally the facts of his decision. Where's the personality politics?
@Jim_Pembroke @nikt50 @612Brisbane I reckon there are thousands of businesses reducing profit margins trying not to go out of business. You really think a small operator would lose their business, house and everything else to avoid paying staff an extra couple of dollars an hour? If businesses die employment dies.
@Jim_Pembroke @nikt50 @612Brisbane The same theory suggests that if wages rise, prices will also rise. So a business owner has to make a decision on a trade off between hiring employees at an increased rate and whether customers will pay the higher price that generates. Prob not the market for increasing prices...
