This is a disgraceful and irresponsible decision by the IOC.

While Russia continues its campaign of terror against Ukraine, the IOC has chosen to turn a blind eye, lifting restrictions and effectively clearing the way for Russian athletes to return to international competitions. This is not neutrality, it is complicity.

Hundreds of Ukrainian athletes, coaches, and young talents have been killed or robbed of their Olympic futures because of Russia’s aggression. Yet the IOC refuses to confront this reality.

At a moment when Russia persists in its assault on Ukraine, the priority cannot be to rub shoulders with the aggressor. It must be to reinforce isolation, uphold international law, and defend the integrity of sport.

Rewarding aggression only invites more of it.

So, after complaining about the Government wasting taxpayer money, Nigel Farage is triggering a by-election, costing the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of pounds to pump up his ego and dodge questions about his finances.

This isn’t about the people of Clacton, it never has been, and we all know it - as usual, it’s all about him. They’re being used as a human shield in a vanity stunt to buy time while the Parliamentary Committee on Standards investigation continues.

He’s rattled and thrashing out. I hope this farce is boycotted by every party that still believes politics is about putting constituents first.

Do I find it indefensible that revenue from British kids' viewing ends up, via taxation, in the budget of a state waging war on our ally? Yes, and I'd be somewhat worried about anyone who didn't.

The letter asks: has anyone actually assessed this series; will they review it (a review, not a verdict); and is the current framework capable of catching this type of problem at all.

Ofcom's Code is built to assess harm and offence. It seemingly has no mechanism for content that functions as propaganda.

I don't want a list of approved programmes. I want a framework fit for the actual problem.

If Ofcom examines Masha and the Bear and concludes 'nothing to see here - NKVD caps & Soviet military uniforms just find their way into children's cartoons from time to time, no idea how that happens - all good', then so be it.

But if, as I suspect, Ofcom has never considered it at all, that's a glaring hole in our framework.

For instance, I imagine Mark doesn’t like a lot of the comments replying to his post.

A very interesting thread. @GarethDennis is absolutely right.

I’ve been campaigning to 1 - dual the line, 2 - get the York area capacity scheme back on track, 3 - for a rail stop here.

It is unlikely that we will get a stop until previous steps are achieved first.

Must have raised these issues the best part of a dozen times in my two years in Parliament so far.

Every time I pass through the east of Knaresborough I think "why on earth haven't we built a station here?" - and, of course, the answer is*: "because if we did, there'd be no money for new feasibility reports".

We asked if DCMS/Ofcom had looked at the series under broadcasting standards, whether they would review licences associated with the show, and what mechanisms there are to identify and deal with content that could be considered propaganda.
