The good news is the #Yankees dodged a nightmare scenario with Judge. The concerns were legit. The bad news is his injury is still a problem, and several weeks without him will be challenging. They're built to survive his absence while atop a playoff race. But he's irreplaceable.
The longer the #Yankees wait for clarity on Judge's diagnosis, the longer the panic intensifies here. And all of the sudden, this season could go in many different wrong directions. It's just not what they want.
So, this news serves as a pretty good explanation why Judge is hitting .248 overall with just one homer in 17 of his last 18 games. He's been playing hurt for weeks – makes sense now. But the #Yankees can't risk pushing him, even though he's still valuable at any mark below 100%.

I couldn't tell you the last time the #Yankees produced a 13-run inning or anything even close, but it's definitely been a while. That was just ridiculous.

It didn't take long for Cole to shake off the debut nerves and work efficiently last week, and his stuff tonight was even more impressive. He's looked like their ace of old thus far. What a difference maker. #Yankees
Well, that wasn't a Subway Series to remember for the #Yankees. They couldn't steal any momentum the Mets have recently built. And atop their list of bullpen concerns is the unpredictable David Bednar Experience. You never know what's coming. It's a problem.
Happy 60th Birthday Pet Sounds!

#Yankees will survive some time without Fried. They have the rotation depth. But those visions of a formidable full-strength staff – with Fried, Cole, Schlittler, and Rodon ahead of Warren and Weathers as fifth-spot candidates – remain visions. It's always been a volatile group.
All the chatter about Jazz Chisholm's alarming spring slump and how immediately ridiculous his 50-50 hitting goal was reminded me that Aaron Hicks set a 30-30 goal a few years ago and didn't even reach 10-10. It's just not what you want during a contract year. #Yankees
Considering how strong the #Yankees have looked at the plate and on the mound, it's easy to forget they lost five straight a few weeks ago and induced some stress.
It's still very early, but they're resembling, without question, the AL's best. They've yet to play a better team.
I have no idea how Jones will handle MLB pitching and NYC pressure. All the questions about his whiff and contact rates remain valid too. But his power threat is impossible to ignore, and the time for the #Yankees to see what his Ohtani-inspired swing can do was forced upon them.
After listening back to all of John Sterling's signature calls, it occurred to me that Jason Giambi's walk-off grand slam over the Twins in 2002 sticks with me the most because... it played on a talking bottle opener I had. A great call, too. His classic booming voice. #Yankees
So many spring and summer days were made better because of John Sterling's talent. A broadcasting legend and an iconic voice beloved by generations of #Yankees fans. And we were all so lucky to hear his World Series comeback a few years ago. He was 1 of 1. A sad day for baseball.
We are devastated to hear about the passing of John Sterling, a WFAN and Yankees radio icon whose voice was synonymous with an entire generation of Yankee fandom.
Rest in peace, John ❤️
Well, add me to the list of millions who didn't expect the #Yankees to send Volpe to Triple-A after his rehab assignment. The sensible and responsible decision actually prevailed. Somehow a pretty big deal right now.
