Participated in a beluga whale hunt today.
A hunter was able to harpoon his first whale today.
I was very excited for them. Their reaction was priceless.
@betz786@vital_metals Not to speak out of turn, it's going to take sufficient drilling to provide Vital information for a Maiden Scoping Study promised by CY2024. I believe that will be first inkling of project economics & how/whether it could make money. Then there's price of REEs. Tough business.
Another great Arctic feature from Liam and Lou, this time on the iconic Canadian Rangers.
“Everybody knows it’s impossible to fight a war in the Arctic, but we have to prepare for the man who doesn’t know it’s impossible.”
Here’s the reality of that Arctic race for resources 👇🏻

The shipping season is quickly approaching, and members of Baffinland’s Sustainable Development and Northern Affairs teams will be visiting Pond Inlet this week, to address any questions about the upcoming season.
Yesterday, the Baffinland team provided a shipping update on the local radio. Community members are invited to meet the team at the Pond Inlet Co-op today, July 3, from 10 am to 12 pm, to ask their questions about the Mary River Project.
Baffinland also looks forward to meeting with the Mittimatalik Hunters and Trappers Organization (MHTO) and the Hamlet Council during their visit to discuss the Shipping Season, our Sustaining Operations Proposal 2 (SOP2) for continuing to ship 6 million tonnes of iron ore, and our plans to build a railway south to Steensby Inlet.
Baffinland’s shipping season only begins after specific conditions are met, including confirmation that the floe edge is closed. Again this year, like previous years, we will implement all the same mitigation measures including restricting our vessels to an industry-leading 9 knot speed limit, to further reduce the impact of our activities on marine mammals. We are listening.

THAT'S IT? This is what 20 years worth of spent nuclear fuel looks like safely stored at the former Maine Yankee nuclear plant.
The energy produced from this fuel helped avoid 70 million metric tons of CO2 emissions.
Ministerial Working Group on Regulatory Efficiency for Clean Growth Projects releases an action plan to modernize federal assessment and permitting processes and get projects built faster.
They’ve said what they will do; now they must do as they say.

@mattscace67@calgaryherald All because of vague Federal antigreenwashing legislation: “The result of this legislation, which has been quickly put in place with little or no consultation, is to silence Canadian businesses taking climate action,” reads the statement.
