I am not a fanatical #Pahlavi supporter. However, @Reuters’ report on Crown Prince #RezaPahlavi makes me smile.

Since #WomanLifeFreedom, we have repeatedly been told that he is finished, irrelevant, or unsuitable to lead #Iranians. Some academics and think-tank figures say that after meeting him, they concluded he could not handle the pressures of political life. Yet most have never had a real political life themselves. Perhaps the closest they came to running for office was representing their class in elementary school.

What makes the Crown Prince significant is his tenacity. Despite decades of disbelief, ridicule, setbacks, and personal attacks, he is still there. And many Iranians still believe in him.

Abraham Lincoln endured repeated defeats and devastating personal loss. Reza Pahlavi has buried a father, a brother, and a sister—and he is still standing.

True #leadership is rooted in one’s humanity and approach to life, not in the desire to silence, kill, or eliminate opponents.
