Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
There is a powerful movement of working class people in the state of Maine, and millions more across America who are ready to send a progressive fighter to the Senate. I’ve been fighting for that movement my whole life — and I’m sure as hell not backing down now, when this fight is needed most.
I’m in. And we're going to defeat Susan Collins. Maine deserves a Senator that will fight for working families.
The Presbyterian Church (USA) voted 454–15 to recognize Israel's actions in Gaza as a genocide, divest from Palantir and GE Aerospace, lobby Congress for an arms embargo, and boycott certain products. They also say that criticism of the Israeli government is not inherently antisemitic.
They're the first major Christian denomination in the USA to formally label Israel's actions in Gaza a genocide.
This is a huge development and a critical escalation in how mainstream US religious institutions perceive Israel, so where's the news coverage? It happened last week, and I've barely seen anything about it in US mainstream media.
I am proud to be a @TwinCitiesDSA member, and one of two Democratic Socialists serving in the Minnesota Senate.
I have the joy of representing District 62 – the heart of South Minneapolis, and I'm honored to have earned our DSA chapter’s endorsement in my re-election campaign.
Capitalists have plenty to say about what they “think” socialism will look like, but what have they given us? War. No healthcare, crushing debt, homelessness, a federal min wage of $7.25. They’ve left us out to dry. Socialism is the only answer for the better world we deserve. https://t.co/qCgrN8IgpG
Tomorrow, I will force another vote to end U.S. participation in the Israeli apartheid regime's campaign of ethnic cleansing and territorial expansion in Lebanon.
Over 4,250 people have been massacred. Twelve children are killed or maimed every day as these U.S.-backed war crimes continue.
Congress must vote to end U.S. support for these atrocities and force an end to Israel’s invasion and illegal military occupation of Lebanese territory.
@geraldposner Alternatively, if you want to fight against fascists, war criminals, and greedy billionaires, join DSA! We can stand up for our rights and build a better world!

For weeks, the activist disappeared from all tracking systems. The best Muhammad’s supporters could ascertain by early April was that they had been transferred to a “confidential location.” Late that month, Muhammad was able to get a letter out to their partner from Kirkland Correctional Institute, in South Carolina, an intake facility 3,000 thousand miles from Oregon — or, as their attorney, Lauren Regan puts it, “as far away from me as possible.”
Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write.

Rape with objects. Gang rape. Rape by trained dogs. Targeted genital shooting. Filmed. Photographed. Archived by the perpetrators. Across 12 named Israel detention sites.
The UN calls it a pattern. B’Tselem calls it a network of torture camps. Both are correct.
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
Cuba's minister of energy confirmed reserves are gone — with just enough diesel left to keep hospitals online. The UN has classified Washington's blockade a humanitarian crisis.
