Rubén Sellés joined Reading on the promise that all the off-field issues were coming to a close. 18 months later and nothing has changed. He said in the summer he couldn’t be sure he would stay if it wasn’t sorted for the sake of his and his family’s wellbeing.
He has put up with points deductions, transfer embargoes, forgoing his wages, fan protests, staff redundancies, the CEO selling star players behind his back, multiple takeovers falling through and much more.
Despite all of this, he built a young, hungry, likeable, winning team playing a style never seen before at this level, competing at the top end of the table. The home form is best it has ever been at the SCL Stadium. He brought the players, staff and fans together and gave us joy in the darkest times.
He has shown more loyalty and support than most ever would and leaves us as a Reading legend.

“It was the right thing to do!” 👏🔵
“The EFL have to take a look… How was this guy allowed to take over in the first place?!”
Jeff Stelling backs the #ReadingFC protest on the pitch, amidst worrying ownership issues.
