@jaywhitebcafc@John_Brammer Definitely. Reckon he could do a job where Metcalfe plays if needed aswell, but would definitely be more effective higher up the pitch. Would be a good addition, great age, versatile & proven in the final third. Hopefully with them wanting Leigh, we can work something out 🤞
@John_Brammer@jaywhitebcafc I believe him/family got seriously abused online by part of the fanbase & he simply doesn’t want to be there anymore, hence the loan. In the right system in LG1 he could be a quality add. Goalscoring midfielder, excellent ball carrier & has delivered good returns everywhere else
@John_Brammer That would definitely be best case scenario. Highly doubt we’ll get someone of Fletchers quality now with Beesley here, although it would be nice. I do Defintley agree that we need another option up there, whether it’s a loan or Free Agent.
On paper this is a good signing. I do have concerns about his consistency, as last season was his only real return, but he stylistically fits what we need at ST & what GA wants. Hard working, selfless & a big presence up top, which we’ve lacked. Hope he smashes it here!🤞#BCAFC
@SHD_Backup If it is Beesley, anything over £150k/200 at a push, would be too much imo. Big risk potentially paying a “biggish” fee for a 29 year old who’s only done it once at this level. Hope it works out if it’s him, but the pressure would be on if we have got the chequebook out for him.
@markg80@jaywhitebcafc I get that, but for such a key position you can’t leave it until January imo. There’s still plenty of time before the season starts to find someone “better” & let’s say we get a fee for Power, you’d think that goes into the budget & straight into replacing him for that position
@Adam05972@Bcafc1903bcafc@Nozza1903 Norwood & Morsy aren’t comparable imo. Norwood controls games with his passing & football IQ, Morsy is more about, positioning and breaking play up. In our midfield 2, I think Morsy gets overrun. Maybe he works in a 3, but for our shape I don’t see it working
@Bcafc1903bcafc@Nozza1903 Yeah 🤷♂️.
Maybe I’d be underwhelmed because of his age & that I’m adamant that we need more legs and energy in midfield, as we got overran too often last season. Morsy would be very short term, I’d rather someone abit younger to partner Metcalfe for the next few years, with energy
@jaywhitebcafc “Was” fantastic, I think his quality has dropped down a few level’s tbh. Just seems a very short term signing if it’s true. Would much rather us go for someone younger in that position. Albeit I’d hope we’re looking to sign 2 maybe even 3 CM’s at a push this summer.
Late to the party, but it obviously wouldn’t be ideal to lose Power.
But, 33 soon it does make sense long term, IF his replacement has real quality & is younger. It HAS to be someone like Wintle (Free Agent) or Harvey White (OOC). That’s the calibre needed to replace him. #BCAFC
@d5_rss@DanUTT__ Mental that you actually think we overspent in January. If anything, January cost us promotion because we didn’t properly go for it. We brought in poor, cheap loans, hoping to chance promotion in the playoffs, and that clearly didn’t work. We wasn’t even close to overspending.
@_paul1978 Agree, I’m not massivley for it. Would only be happy with it if he was to come in and be the backup. Can’t be going into a season with Smith as our “Main Man”.
Wouldn’t be an awful signing, has experience, can hold it up, link play & is proven to offer G/A’s @ the level. But I do think we NEED to be targeting a younger, more mobile ST. If we bring him in alongside a younger option, with Smith as a bench/backup, it wouldn’t be bad #BCAFC
Bradford City are reportedly interested in signing striker Michael Smith (34) from Championship side Preston North End 🐔 Via | @reluctantnicko
Smith has scored three goals for Preston since signing from Sheffield Wednesday last summer 🔄

@PMarshy77 Yeah fair it does, but if we do sign Smith the club clearly thinks he’ll offer more. On paper he’s more proven at LG1 level & has a lot of Champ experience, which unfortunately puts him ahead of Cook. I’m not really for this signing either, hopefully just a rumour 🤞
@Patrick58731872 Yeah, you’d expect Wintle, Gilbert, Osei-Tutu & other’s out there to be on big money, but that’s the level we need to target/willing to spend to go one better imo. Paton was a knee jerk shout from me 😅 glad that didn’t happen, hasn’t worked out for him in England.
Based on 8 potential FREE signings I feel are realistic/players we should target, this is the best squad depth I’ve built, with the flexibility to switch to a 4-3-3 like we saw a few times last szn. It’s still a big ask, but it feels doable if we show the right ambition. #BCAFC
