A session can be successful and still have limited transfer.
If players don’t need to search for information in training, what happens when they have to search in the game?
@TheS_Resource@SSPlanner Really like the clarity of the defensive intentions here.
Interesting challenge in practices like this is whether defenders are recognising pressing moments, or simply reacting to predictable movement patterns inside the structure.
Sometimes players learn how to succeed in the practice… not the game.
The structure becomes predictable.
The next action becomes obvious.
So performance improves, but adaptation disappears.

“Play quicker” is common coaching language in football.
But sometimes players become so focused on speed that they stop searching for better solutions.
Fast decisions aren’t always good decisions.

I’ve stopped a session before to point something out.
To me, it was obvious.
But the player didn’t see it.
It wasn’t a bad decision.
They simply didn’t perceive it.

Something I’ve noticed in training, players don’t always choose the best option.
It’s just the one they see first.
That tends to look very different in matches.
Put a few thoughts down here:

@theory_football@TacticalPad@YouTube Nice detail in this. The timing of the ‘drop in’ is key, too early and it’s easy to track, too late and the option disappears.
Sessions can look good and still not transfer.
Players succeed in the practice.
But the behaviour doesn’t appear in the match.
Why that happens and what to look for instead.
