@fagel_ira@mark_giangreco Respectfully, Doc and McDonough are nowhere close to one another when it comes to calling hockey. My issue with McDonough is that he doesn't consistently match the intensity of playoff hockey. Two of many examples are his calls when Ehlers scored and Staal scored last night.
@JimPoorman It could be. I'll forever be a Doc Emrick guy, so it's likely that every national hockey announcer will get compared to him. Fair? Probably not. But I grew up with Doc and Gary Thorne calling games.
@jbaraldi11 Forslund I'll give you. Wischusen can be a little much at times, but I'd take him over McDonough. Wischusen can at least match the intensity of a playoff game when a team scores.
@JimPoorman He does nothing for me. I think an announcer's job is to elevate the moment. McDonough doesn't do that. He's a great college football announcer, but I find him flat as a hockey play-by-play.
@jbaraldi11 Albert has grown on me. What separates the guys you mentioned from McDonough is that they all know how to call a playoff game. McDonough sounds like he's calling a regular season game during the playoffs.
