PhD Student at the UGent photonics research group. Working on integrating graphene into integrated mode-locked lasers.
Can be a bit of an environmentalist ๐ฑ
Took a train down to the Kippenberg group with some colleagues to see how they generate frequency combs from microrings. Started to wonder if the secret to publishing Nature papers is being surrounded by a lot of nice and highly distracting nature? @PhotonicsUGent#EPFL
Had a great time at CLEO-PR last week in Korea. Got to show the Pacific Rim how well (or perhaps not so well) our transfer-printed saturable absorbers are currently working. ๐๐ฐ๐ท

Congratulations to Arturo & Haelewijn for getting the master thesis prizes. But certainly also congrats to all other @masterphotonics students graduating today! @PhotonicsUGent

Dive into our recent paper on present and future of micro-transfer printing #uTP for photonic integrated circuits #PIC. Explore our vision and how we're advancing integration across different materials on the silicon photonic platform #SiPh@PhotonicsUGent@imec_int
The @PhotonicsUGent delegation at @GrapheneWeek 2023 showing of what nifty things can be done by sticking Si waveguides underneath graphene layers. And suddenly popped up in Jari Kinaret's plenary talk on the future of the graphene flagship!
Trying to be a green and responsible researcher, so exchanged the plane for a train travelling to @GrapheneWeek. Managed to get a good night's sleep in the train going at 300 km/h towards Gรถteborg! ๐ง๐ช โก๏ธ ๐ธ๐ช
Experimented today how close the @PhotonicsUGent triathlon team can get to the speed of light at the mr. T triathlon... Pretty close since we managed to finish 9th!
Never too young to introduce kids to the fascinating world of photonics. It was a pleasure to host the 2nd graders (L2) of the Van Monckhoven elementary school of @Stadgent
Got to show off some passive mode-locking results using one of our integrated graphene saturable absorbers at IEEE Benelux today, was fun
