‼️ If the Prime Minister has now been told that Russia interfered in the 2016 referendum, the public is entitled to know what happened, what the intelligence services concluded, who was involved, and why the evidence was not properly examined and disclosed years ago.
We need a public inquiry to examine what government knew about foreign interference, when it knew it, what intelligence existed before and after the referendum, what advice ministers received, and whether Parliament was given a materially incomplete picture when Theresa May served Article 50 notification.
Andy Burnham has become the first British prime minister to confirm that Russia interfered in the 2016 Brexit referendum. Speaking on The Rest Is Politics podcast, he said he put the question to officials on arriving in Downing Street this summer and received "the clear answer that yes, there was."
It is a striking break with the past. Parliament's Intelligence and Security Committee concluded in 2020 that the government had never properly assessed Moscow's role, and its published findings stopped short of saying Russian activity changed the result.
The timing is what makes it political. Burnham recently left the door open to a manifesto pledge on rejoining the EU, and the Conservatives accuse him of questioning the legitimacy of the vote. Downing Street declined to describe the briefing he received.
If Russian Brexit interference was "made clear" to Burnham as soon as he became PM, surely there are grounds for a criminal investigation into unlawful concealing of evidence, or at least a fresh parliamentary or public inquiry into misconduct against May, Johnson, Sunak etc ?
So, finally, a PM who admits there **was** Russian interference in the Brexit Referendum — after all the evidence amassed by myself @carolecadwalla@lukeharding1968 Sergei Cristo, J Patrick et al — dismissed as conspiracy for ten long years
Truth is the daughter of Time
I hope everyone who has said horrific things about the man being attacked by the tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park feels terrible when we find out the full story.
He didn’t deserve to die and definitely doesn’t deserve people laughing at his death.
YOU SHOULD ALL BE ASHAMED 😡
god this place is a fucking cesspit
the reactions to the guy who died after entering the tiger enclosure.
'madman' 'idiot' 'FAFO' etc
barely anyone stopping to think that maybe he had mental health issues/disability / was neurodivergent etc and that its a sad tragic incident
X at its sickest. No one knows why the man entered the tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Zoo but either way, he didn't deserve to die. I am glad the tiger wasn't destroyed but my god, show the man some sympathy and remember a family are tonight in ruins.
6% of the UK population are Muslim, and 4% of UK MPs are Muslim.
Stop all this bullshit that they are somehow taking over and controlling the country.
It's all just far right propaganda.
I'd rather see a decent Muslim with honest values who serves their community as an MP, than the utter scumbag, criminal, wife beating grifters who represent the far right.
