I think my account is withheld in USA.
Each time I attempt to reply to a post about US politics it says “Please try again”.
Americans if you can see me from the US please comment 👋
No. ToT refers to firing multiple salvos on different trajectories timed so that all the salvoes hit at the same time. It is NOT about skipping ranging shots; it is about having multiple salvos in the air at the same time. It is a force multiplier that allows a single battery to have the instantaneous impact of multiple batteries.
The ToT (Time on Target) barrage is one of those underrated American innovations.
Usually the battery needs to fire a few ranging shots, have the observer report back to adjust, taking some time. This gives the target time to displace.
American artillery would instead do exact calculations to ensure that the barrage hit almost without warning, not waiting for multiple ranging shots.
@RealMarkKennedy@Cernovich Someone needs to call this out. Auschwitz was in Poland, liberated by Soviet Red Army. No US soldiers involved, or even within hundreds of miles. This narrative is impossible.
No expert here, but I don’t believe Poland-Lithuania ever included ALL of that (even in their own minds). EG, Crimea was part of an semi-independent Khanate under Ottomans until Russian conquest. Also, the Ukraine Steppe wasn’t under their direct control, only indirect via ‘registered’ Cossacks. And the independent-minded Cossacks were playing Pol-Lith off against Russia, with eastern Cossacks more affiliated with Tsar.
I believe Anselm was the first to articulate this notion, based upon medieval notions of retributive justice. It was an innovation in doctrine unknown until then. The ancient fathers and the eastern Orthodox churches reject this notion.
We banned rigorous intellectual standards 1) to make the “educated” easier to manipulate via propaganda & evil word magic; 2) to allow anti-racism and, later, DEI quotas to break the connections between educational achievement and (genetic, unalterable) cognitive ability.
It’s why almost all the schools suck and almost all the credentials of “the experts” are meaningless fraud.
How about rigorous objective testing of both how much they know and how insightful they are at using that knowledge effectively.
Erase there DEI-contaminated, dumbed down credentials and replace with tough, competitive testing — certainly with HIGH failure rates for test takers.
(Back in the day, the Society of Actuaries used to do this.)
This is completely correct. As a boomer I traveled from marxist to “classical liberal = conservative”. We have moved far past the days when that was an acceptable response to reality.
Conservatives will tell you openly that they consider themselves "classical liberals", and try to gatekeep the right by claiming that the true right is Locke and Mill. When in positions of power they punish the right far more strictly than the left, because they correctly understand that they are ideologically more similar to leftists than to rightists.
