@fplaguerooooo@NiqVelji Quote me where I said it’s something to be proud about and I’ll send you $100. This is why I don’t engage with you, you just make things up 😭
@NiqVelji I agree with your point that Pettersson has declined and that it should be talked about. I don’t agree with the narrative you paint where you leave out all the context like injuries and dumb it down to him being just a “40 point center” when in reality his 82 game rate is higher.
@NiqVelji Also did you not read what I said? Hughes went from scoring 92 points to playing at an under a PPG pace when in Vancouver.
He got worse, he declined. You say I make excuses for Pettersson meanwhile you are covering up Hughes bad play.
@NiqVelji This is exactly my point. Pettersson is surrounded by multiple players who put zero effort in and don’t even want to be on the team and then I should be surprised that he’s not producing well? These are facts, Hughes and Garland not putting in effort is a fact, not an excuse.
@NiqVelji Well Pettersson and Boeser played 453 minutes together at all strengths compared to Boldy and Hartman who only played together for 162 minutes all season.
If both players were declining it would be fair to look at both and see why that’s happening. Some of the reasons overlap.
@NiqVelji@fplaguerooooo What?
64 GP/45 Pts (45 ÷ 64 = 0.703 PPG)
Over 82 games: 0.703 × 82 = 58 points
74 GP/51 Pts (51 ÷ 74 = 0.689 PPG)
Over 82 games: 0.689 × 82 = 56 points
Pettersson’s 82 games played rate would result in him finishing with just under 60 points for his last two seasons.
@NiqVelji Garland went from scoring 50 points in a full season to quitting on the team and playing at a 0.5 point per game rate.
Hughes went from having a 92 point pace in back to back seasons to playing at a 73 point per game rate before quitting on the team.
Thats not a decline?
@NiqVelji And thats completely fine and justified. However, why not focus on the reasons why he fell off? If Hartman was Boldys primary winger and he started to decline we could like at that and also point out that it could be a reason Boldy is also struggling. Theres nothing wrong w that.
@NiqVelji Yes when you include his one outlier season he is much closer to a 45 point player in the last 5 seasons.
It’s not semantical to point out the flaws in your analogy.
@NiqVelji@fplaguerooooo He was a “40 point center” even though he scored 51 points this year.
Pettersson also would have finished with roughly 60 points in the last two seasons if he played the full 82 games. So no even ignoring context, he’s not just a 40pt C.
@NiqVelji Garlands production didn’t decline from 2025 to 2026? Hughes production didn’t decline from 2024 to 2025 and then again to 2026?
I acknowledge Pettersson’s drop off has been more drastic but again there’s reasons for that. Reasons that are a lot bigger than what others went thru
@Since1988bro You aren’t against this hire? 😂
But why does any of that matter? RJ and the Sedins are still good hires even if Aquilini is cheap. I don’t get what your point here is.
Is there anything even to suggest that Hermiston was a cheap hire?
@NiqVelji Sure and nobody is refuting that Pettersson’s story shouldn’t be talked about. It’s just the fact that it’s the ONLY thing that’s being talked about.
@NiqVelji I’m not sitting here and trying to diminish the fact that he has fallen off. I acknowledge it. But at the same time, it shouldn’t be an issue when I say something like his injuries played a part in his regression. Do you disagree with that?
@NiqVelji@fplaguerooooo I was speaking hyperbolically even though there is people who actually think this. People in this very same comment section even.
You called him a 40 point center and slandered him like there wasn’t reasonable explanations for those point totals.
@NiqVelji Are you not doing the exact same with Pettersson’s 2022/23 season? lol
Boeser still has been declining regardless. Remove that season and he was at 55 points the season prior.
He’s also just one example. Players are not performing well here.
