My friend is gone again. I'm sad. 🥲 I feel like he was the closest person I've ever been to since Houston, so I wish him all the best in the future..

🎙️ Checkmate's Post-MSC Stream Summary
- In the finals against TFC, it wasn’t that they were particularly difficult — it felt more like we collapsed on our own. Losing map 2 really shook our mental. I usually try to keep the team steady when I notice others getting mentally shaky, but even I lost composure and couldn’t support them. After we took the lead on Esperança, I thought our chance of losing was only around 5–10%.
- Our scrim results against TFC were neck and neck, including the day before the finals. I honestly thought we were the best team in this meta, so I don’t think we lost due to a skill gap. TFC had the edge in terms of tournament experience and momentum. If we had just won Esperança, I think the match could’ve gone our way. If we had beaten TFC while they were running Venture, they might have avoided the mirror comp — giving us more comp flexibility in later maps.
- Our D.Va–Pharah–Tracer comp had a 100% win rate in scrims.
- Having to wait around 3–4 hours in the player lounge after the TM match affected our condition. Looking back, maybe we should’ve gone straight to the hotel to get proper rest.
- TM, T1, and TFC were strong in scrims. T1 in particular couldn’t show their scrim performance on stage. In scrims, they felt on par with TFC in terms of strength, so it’s a shame. I think the players were just really nervous.
- CR built their comps mostly around Ball, but I think they might’ve misread the meta. In scrims, CR actually used a lot of Ramattra and Symmetra too, but maybe their results weren’t good with it.
- Honestly, if CR had faced us instead of TM, they might’ve been eliminated more easily. We were strong against dive comps since we used D.Va.
- Freja is a good pick. When we scrimmed TFC, the hardest thing to deal with was MER1T’s Freja. No matter what comp you’re playing, Freja can always do her job — that’s why she’s strong. Especially the flying part — it’s kind of OP.
- I’m the main shotcaller. And in Symmetra comps, the Symmetra player has to shotcall. My guess is that teams who struggle with Symmetra comps have Flex DPS players who aren’t used to calling. From what I know, Youbi also does a ton of shotcalling.
- I was feeling a little hyped before the match. It had been a while since I’d seen players like SOMEONE and MER1T, so I was excited to face them again.
- After the tournament, LBBD7 cried in the waiting room.
- Junkbuck is the best coach I’ve ever had. He listens to the players and makes the environment really comfortable.
