@MartinSLewis Perhaps I am being naive, but surely re-doing council tax bands would mean that councils in expensive locations will get lots of income from council tax and councils in deprived areas would get very little? Is that already the case?
@thatsnotmine125 @Ask_foradoctor @HattyFeldman The point is not that it’s boring. It is that doctors and surgeons shouldn’t be spending their time doing administrative tasks, instead they should be seeing patients and performing surgery. That’s why they went to medical school, not to fill out paperwork.
@thatsnotmine125 @Ask_foradoctor @HattyFeldman So PAs are supposed to be assisting with non-specialist and non-clinical tasks (such as discharge summaries and admin) freeing up actual physicians to do specialist tasks. If she wants to do interesting clinical work she should have gone to medical school
@MedRegoncall1 Vet nurses learn physiology, pharmacy, anatomy, anaesthesia… they triage emergencies, assist in operations, monitor sick animals. Seems more relevant to me than many other science degrees that qualify.
@Dr_BellaR Pick the right specialty and it will be worth it. Foundation and core training aren’t representative of registrar or consultant life. Training in the UK has its drawback for sure. Work life balance is better down under, but not sure about career prospects.
@BladeoftheS This isn’t the fault of the British public. Remain should have put forward an argument better than “change is scary something bad might happen”, and they should have debunked myths like 350m extra a week for the NHS.
@alexarmstrong I’m astounded people could be on the other side of this. Surely every parent wants the best academic opportunities for their kids. This is what equality should be about, opportunities for young people rich or poor to excel. academia isn’t the only way to excel, but it’s one way!
