Sea Legend a Chinese shipping company has begun the first regular northern sea route Ningbo-> Felixstowe
The new route Takes as little as 18 days compared with more than 40 days for the Suez Canal and avoids the risk of being struck by Houthi missile.
This new route is a huge opportunity for the UK if played successfully.
What a lot of people will refuse to countenance is that for flying to become safe, unsafe flying had to be allowed first.
You couldn’t create flying as safe as it is today without the massive capital investment & experimentation that riskier flying generated in the first place.
Weirder and weirder. Who gave David Lammy the fake contact in the first place?
The White House insists that this is nothing to do with Wiles' phone contact list being hacked last year - but the revelation that it was Lammy who had the number lends credence to the idea that he had a fake number as a result of the hack.
Senators, business leaders, and governors were contacted by someone pretending to be Wiles in the wake of the hack. The FBI is still investigating.
It is not beyond the realm of possibilty that one of the numbers in Wiles' contact book was Lammy's, that he was contacted by the hoaxer at some point last year, and that he has been thinking he had Wiles' number this whole time as a result of that - when in fact he did not.
EXCL: David Lammy gave the PM the phone number of the con artist pretending to be Donald Trump’s chief-of-staff.
Andy Burnham exchanged several messages with the hoaxer.
The blunder was a big embarrassment for the new PM.

@mrianleslie Glad it's not just me who finds talk of the "UK" very stilted and lanyardian. Normal people say "Britain" and politicians should too, unless there's a very specific Northern Ireland-themed reason.
@ShyGuysbals Britain is a country, Great Britain is an island. Though Great Britain is acceptable terminology to use to refer to the whole country, just as ‘Whitehall’ is acceptable terminology to refer to the entire civil service.
@bswud I think this is quite an international thing. Britain is my default, but lots of Americans (and American minded people) say England because they’re most used to saying English (the language they speak).
