@Catinmyfamily@FatiguedStill For me, Covid triggered vascular inflammation that pushed me into Stage 4 kidney disease. Luckily, my “Long Covid” fell into a known category called MPA vasculitis, with an established treatment that reversed most of the damage. Having the “right” label made a huge difference.
@MarsDorian@craigreid@EricLiptonNYT Most people don’t have warm fuzzy feelings for their “X”. Seems like Elon is committed to making Twitter into my “ex”-social media platform!
@TheFrugalBanker Seems to be a particular occupational hazard of CEOs. Bad acquisitions, ill-conceived diversification, running for governor or president, dabbling in education reform. Often, a corporate executive’s industry-specific skills don’t translate well to politics or other industries.
@zippola71 @Atticus59914029 Not that strange. It’s sorta like hopping on an airplane, flying to Paris, taking the train to London, flying back, grabbing a cab home, and then… breaking your ankle after tripping on your front steps.
A lot of outlets have been telling the story of Tony Bennett marching with MLK.
But have you ever heard the story about how “wokeness,” DEI, Jesus, an actual anti-racist, 2 church choirs & 1 of the greatest dance moves of all time got Tony Bennett into show biz?
A thread
@jaynordlinger@jwigderson The Right has been guilty of many things, including this: For years, they called progressives & good-government liberals like me “anti-American commies.” So now that actual fascists are on the rise, they feel empowered to deprive us of our rights, our franchise, and our freedom.
@carlquintanilla @PolicyWonk1848 @TheEconomist I worked on lots of successful corporate finance teams. Most of my customers were in different cities. Most colleagues were overseas. Our attorneys were 10 blocks away. Most of my communications were by memo, email or phone. You don’t need to be in an office to collaborate.
@ComicsintheGA My g-grandma loved comics. She bought & saved some of the early editions of Batman, Superman. Her husband thought it was a stupid, frivolous hobby and when she died, just tossed her collection in the trash.😭
@Solwoldjr74@conorsen Not sure about that. For most middle class families, the incredibly high cost of end-of-life care sucks up most of the unspent retirement savings and home equity. Owning one home doesn’t necessarily build generational wealth.
@BullandBaird@wannabfoode So… they rescued the economy by slowing down inflation and preventing a run on the banking system? You know, like just doing their actual job? Is that supposed to be bad?
@135dandan@CultureCrave Or, hear me out here… let’s just make movies with *no writers or actors* at all. You know, the ones where they film bears or penguins or cheetahs in the wild, or webcams of eagles’ nests. I’m sure those would really draw in the crowds!

@Pappiness Not disagreeing, but Zaslav hasn’t made WBD shareholders richer either. The share price has dropped precipitously since the combined company was formed. Yet he still got compensated $286 million over the past 2 years.
