2026年3月，在纽约联合国总部举行的第70届妇女地位委员会（CSW70）年会上，美国政府拒绝签署联合国2026女权协议书，这打破了该委员会成立近80年来的传统。

自1947年成立以来，CSW的年度《商定结论》通常都会通过。

然而在2026年3月9日，由于美国坚持反对关键条款，大会历史上首次被迫通过记录投票来通过结果文件。

• 投票结果： 37票赞成，1票反对（美国），6票弃权（包括沙特、埃及等保守立场国家）。

由现任美国政府派出的代表团提出了8项修正案，要求删除或修改以下内容：

美国代表在发言中公开质疑联合国妇女署的合法性，指责其“否认女性生物上弱于男性的现实，在国际上煽动女权主义，以舆论影响司法公正，迫害男性，搞女性特权”，并称美国已经取消对该机构的资助。

反对提及“性与生殖健康及权利”，理由是这些词汇会被认为支持“女权堕胎权”。

对监管人工智能以防止针对女性的算法歧视等条款表示坚决反对，称其为“女权特权言论审查，妨害言论自由”。
