The grotesque irony of staging a White House Correspondents' Dinner in the presence of a rambling, authoritarian figure who is actively working to dismantle the First Amendment protections of the very free press he is ostensibly there to honor is almost too much to bear.

What should have been an evening celebrating journalistic independence instead became a platform for a petty, mean-spirited performance that exposed the speaker's smallness of character.

Rather than rising to the occasion, he spent his time sneering at "fake news," recycling tired grievances, and clumsily attempting to publicly humiliate CNN's Kaitlan Collins — revealing not strength or wit, but the brittle insecurity of a man who confuses personal score-settling with leadership.

The speech was not merely tone-deaf; it was a dismal, unfunny, and intellectually bankrupt spectacle that diminished the event and the office it pretends to respect.

And then came the final, chilling flourish: the deliberate donning of a bright red "Trump 2028" hat. This was no joke, no lighthearted gag. It was a brazen, foreboding signal — an open declaration that the assault on democratic norms is far from over, and that the next coup is already being telegraphed in plain sight.

2 impeachments. A club of exactly one president.

A jury said it twice so nobody could pretend it was a fluke.
Ordered to pay 2 million dollars for looting his own so called charity.
Stealing from a charity with his own name on it.
Found liable for business fraud and originally slapped with a penalty topping 450 million dollars, later thrown out on appeal while the fraud finding itself stuck to him anyway.
First president in modern history to increase the deficit every single year of a full term. Fiscal responsibility, apparently, was always just a talking point.
Kept the debt to GDP ratio above 100 percent for his entire first term.
Presided over the largest single day point drop in Dow Jones history at the time. So much for the guy who claimed to be a genius with money.
Set the record for the longest government shutdown in US history in his first term at 35 days, then couldn’t resist beating his own miserable record in his second term with a 43 day shutdown, followed by yet another shutdown just months later. Encore nobody asked for.
Added roughly 2.25 trillion dollars to the national debt in his first year back in office alone, pushing the debt past 39 trillion dollars.
Somebody remind me who the party of fiscal discipline is again.

At least 40 of those pardoned rioters have already been rearrested, charged, or sentenced for new crimes since walking free. Shocking absolutely nobody.
His family’s crypto ventures, including a meme coin and World Liberty Financial, pulled in more than 1.4 billion dollars in disclosed earnings while he sat in the Oval Office.
Draining the swamp was apparently code for filling his own pockets.
Sent the National Guard into American cities at a cost of nearly 500 million taxpayer dollars in 2025 alone.
His own tariffs are projected to cost the average American household more than 2,500 dollars this year.
You’re paying for this. Not China. You.
Now sitting at one of the lowest approval ratings of his second term, stuck in the high 30s while inflation and gas prices make everyday life harder.
None of this is a conspiracy theory, a rumor, or something you saw in a group chat.
It is the actual, documented record, sitting in plain sight for anyone willing to look.

The government just paid a French oil company $2.5 BILLION of YOUR tax dollars... to kill American wind energy.

Not to build it. To make it disappear.

TotalEnergies had two offshore wind farms ready to go. One off North Carolina, one off New York. Combined, they would have powered hundreds of thousands of homes.

The Department of the Interior paid TotalEnergies $795 million to walk away from both, and banned the company from ever building offshore wind in the U.S. again.

Here's the part that should stop you cold:

That $795 million isn't just a payout. It's a condition. TotalEnergies has to take that money and pour it into oil, gas, and LNG projects instead.

The government is paying a company, with your tax dollars, to convert clean energy into fossil fuel. On purpose, by design.

And it didn't stop there.

Invenergy took $765 million to drop four more offshore leases, same condition attached: oil and gas only.

Bluepoint Wind, a 2.4 gigawatt project off New York, folded too. So did Golden State Wind, a floating wind farm planned for the waters off central California.

These weren't early-stage ideas. Ports were already being built to support them. California alone has sunk over $100 million into port and mooring infrastructure for a project that may never get finished.

Over $2.5 billion in taxpayer money, across four separate deals, all pointed the same direction: away from wind, straight into fossil fuel.

Meanwhile, a wind farm that did get finished, Vineyard Wind off Massachusetts, is already saving families $1.4 billion on their power bills over the next 20 years. That's the version of this we're not choosing.

Seven states are suing over the TotalEnergies deal alone. California's Attorney General just filed a separate case over the rest.

Since when does the government bribe companies to pick oil over wind?
