Today, New Jersey passed sweeping gun safety legislation, including measures to expand background checks, reduce magazine capacity, and keep firearms out of the wrong hands.
On Wednesday, I'll sign these bills into law, establishing some of the toughest gun laws in the nation.
Our Founders created a government of, by, and for the people. @realDonaldTrump is not a king. We will not let him walk all over our Constitution. #NoOneAboveTheLaw
EVERY ELECTED REPUBLICAN OFFICIAL has an obligation to issue a statement saying that the head of their party isn't a king and doesn't have the right to pardon himself.
Any elected Republican official who can't or won't issue such a statement spits on America and its rule of law.
President Nixon asked the Department of Justice if he could pardon himself. They said no, as no one may be the judge in their own case. He resigned three days later.
In case you want to follow the Nixon model, that would be Thursday. https://t.co/5ntHaySTBJ
JUNE 4, 2018. Mark the date. This is the day the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, declared himself above the law. To say this is ominous is an understatement. And craven Republicans will do nothing.
Dear @realDonaldTrump: In case you forgot, here are the leaders of the Russia probe:
-Republican Wray, appointed by you
-Republican Rosenstein, appointed by you
-Republican Mueller, appointed by Rosenstein who was appointed by you
And DNI Coates is a Republican appointed by you https://t.co/FI1O5SW24I
The ritualized dehumanization of a minority population was the first step toward genocide in Nazi Germany.
The world has seen this kind of rhetoric about immigrants - and this kind of brutal, cruel treatment of women and children.
This isn’t a warning sign. It’s a crisis.
Hey, grown-ups. Children are tweeting under #IfIDieInASchoolShooting. Take a look.
Some want their bodies dropped off @NRA headquarters. Many want their deaths politicized. They have eulogy suggestions and funeral preferences.
Children in America.
In November, we can march for women, for science and sanity. We can march for democracy, for the rule of law and a free press. We can march for our lives, for the kids in Parkland and now Santa Fe. We can march to the polls — and put an end to the madness.

Don't stop talking about Parkland. No matter how distant in the past it gets, don't stop. Don't stop talking about Las Vegas. The faultless victims remain deceased. Don't stop talking about Columbine. There can be no moving on until there is significant reform.
