A little song that came to me very early this morning. Based on the jazz classic of 1939 by Hoagy Carmichael and Frank Loesser, “Two Sleepy People.” It’s election day in the USA, so I give you “Two Creepy People.”
@gaijinthoughts You got it wrong Richard. I did too. It seemed so obvious that most of the Hayashi and Motegi votes would go to Koizumi, and the rank-and file votes, where Takaichi was leading, were bumped down from 295 to 47. And yet! Somehow she managed to beat Koizumi even among the dietmen.
@gaijinthoughts And I have a feeling that a somewhat similar class analysis might apply to Nigel Farage’s Reform Party over in the UK. And Trump. “I love the poorly educated.”

@GearoidReidy Back in the 1980s, I used to go to the Bluegrass Inn in Jimbōchō. Every night there’d be a different Japanese bluegrass band. They had washboards, mandolins and singers who sounded like they came from Tennessee. Don’t know why it closed: it was well patronized by bluegrass otaku.
