I'm posting these excerpts from HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT because the book helps illuminate a lot of strange and frightening geopolitical moves happening right now. It gives the backstory of the past 40 years. Borrow it from the library or get it here:

@DirtbagEconomi1 Shit, just saw this. We don't have the capacity. The reason we left NARAL and started JEN is because we needed to help people in real time. We realized with our SD legislators we had no chance of overturning the trigger law.
@DirtbagEconomi1 I don't know what sort of Mickey Mouse operation you're running, but we are helping real people in real time. You do you, and we'll stay over here saving lives.
There is no moral or ethical ambiguity about what is being perpetrated against the Palestinian people. There’s no dressing it up with notions of defense. It is the systematic wiping out of a people. And the brutality and speed with which it is being done should sicken all of us.
Women in Gaza are dressed in full hijabs in their own homes so that if they’re killed, they’re covered. Families are sheltering in place together, so that if they go, they all go. No one is left with the trauma of searching for others. This pain, just hearing it, is indescribable
I notice Kristi of the House Noem, the First of Her Name, Rodeo Queen of the Prairie, Pulpit & the First Nations, Lady of 66 Counties & Protector of Castlewood, Queen of SD, Panderer of the Great Plains, the Unborn, Breaker of Vows & Mother of Nepotes hasn’t tweeted in 24 hours.
Happy five year anniversary of pointing out that men cause pregnancy and could easily prevent abortion by ejaculating responsibly (but they choose not to) to all who celebrate.
I don’t give a fuck if a fetus has it’s own DNA or whatever dumb shit forced birthers are on about another day, a fetus is never more important than the person carrying that fetus. The life and rights of the born human person will always supersede the rights of the fetus.
Maybe someone will bring a free school lunch bill to the SD Legislature in 2024 to help combat childhood food insecurity across our state? 👀
It's me. I'm someone.
If you're going to talk about South Carolina's 6 week abortion ban, make sure to lift up @PSAbortionFund and @CarolinaAbtnFnd for the work they do. Their work and the work of other funds and allies in the field will only increase as more patients are forced to travel for care.
Here are some things you won't find us using when talking about abortion (& why)!
It's worth noting that these are terms & images often used with good intent. AND—that doesn't negate the harm they cause.
Yesterday, leftist @argusleader reporter @bymorganmatzen ran a story that discussed a previous tweet of mine.
Here's the email reply I sent to her on why I refuse to take part in her obvious attempts to drive liberal narratives through her stories...

RE:
Hi Morgan,
Thanks for reaching out, but with all due respect, I've read your reporting recently, and it's become very clear that you have a leftist bias and that much of your "reporting" actually functions more like leftist propaganda in the truest sense of the word.
You probably saw the tweet I posted about this: https://t.co/9xNyzZifG0
Many good legislators, including me, over the last decade have sought to protect girl's and women's sports from unfair male participation, sought to protect young children incapable of giving informed consent from permanent bodily mutilation in the name of what you and other leftists call "gender affirming care," and sought to protect the dignity and privacy of young girls in the use of their own bathrooms and locker-rooms.
But you summed up and headlined our work protecting children and girls as, "A Decade of Hate." That headline—which you presented as if it were a fact—and the six part series based on that premise that followed was obviously not fair and unbiased journalism, but were rather your opinion pieces masquerading as journalism.
So, I don't foresee myself participating in your stories anytime in the foreseeable future until you can begin to demonstrate that you are actually interested in reporting facts on both sides of an issue and presenting the subjects fairly rather than pushing your leftist agenda.
Sincerely,
-Jon

My sister Fia and I wandered around the Sioux Empire Fair and went to a country music concert wearing these shirts. No one said a word to us. I don't know if that means anything or not.
