Let’s not forget that Raven’s breakout game overshadowed a MONSTER all-around game by Kevin Quiambao. 17pts, 12asts, 9rebs, while shooting 6/13.
Japanese and Korean scouts will be knocking on his door soon if they haven’t already. Hope DLSU can keep him at least 1 more year.
Great comeback win for DLSU today! HUGE turnaround in the 2nd half where I noticed Coach Caloy Garcia calling the shots instead of Coach Topex.
Breakout game for @ravencortez6 with a big 18/5 & 3 blks in just 13 mins. Hopefully, we turn things around in Round 2! #AN1MO
DLSUs lineup is stacked. I’d argue 1 of the best defenses in the league too. But free throws are ALWAYS their demise.
11/23 today. Even if DLSU made half of the misses, that’s a W. Making FTs is MENTAL toughness. If we don’t have that, there’s a limit to what DLSU can achieve.
@renzio@naveenganglani Might be. Someone needs to measure the distance of the line and the height of the court. Seriously. It’s been 10+ years of this already.
Great W for DLSU today! Lots to improve on but, a strong start for the Archers! Night and day from what we looked like last year. Love that the defense was the biggest improvement. Free Throws STILL need to improve though. #AN1MO
Never in my lifetime did I EVER think that the trophy of the World Cup of basketball would be risen in the Philippines. WHAT. A. MOMENT.
A STANDING OVATION for @iamMVP for making it happen & the HUNDREDS of Filipinos that worked to host this once in a lifetime event in Manila!
Given that, I really hope that the powers-that-be realize that change is VERY MUCH needed with our entire National Team program. There are extremely intelligent people in the world of PH basketball that can make meaningful change. Let’s all hope it happens sooner than later.
If it’s painful for us to watch, I can only imagine how much more painful it is for these players to be in the game. It may not be the results we wanted but, I wanna thank ALL of the Gilas players and coaching staff for their sacrifice in this World Cup.
That was tough to watch. From the 2Q onwards, it was like trying to run in knee deep mud. What hurts is that, there is talent in our country. For me, the problem is SYSTEMIC more than anything else.
And you can say that about all facets of the Philippines. Not just basketball.
What Gilas’ 1st 2 games has made me realize:
1. The players that are performing & look/act like they wanna win aren’t from the PBA (except for CJ Perez).
2. 4 years from now, with NBA coaching & experience under his belt, @JAlapag3 is my vote to coach us in the next World Cup.
So, lemme get this straight. To beat the front runner, make the 2nd placer withdraw because all who are for her will just vote for you if she does. And that’s the kind of logic we need leading our country?
