@CalmYourMitts I think because the Mets play almost everyday for 6 months straight it’s more of an opportunity to go crazy. For like football, people get frustrated on Sunday and recap on Monday.
@TalkinMetsNoG With #MetsTwitter constantly obsessing over Alonso, I wonder how it would have handled Strawberry leaving after 1990? Is Alonso the perfect storm of fan attachment, a losing season, and inadequate replacement?
@DavidHans60@TalkinMetsNoG Over 15 years ago, the media fixated on the Madoff-Wilpons connection and impact on the Mets. If Cohen had been involved in similar financial actions, they’d have a ton of articles arguing he needed to sell the team.
@nyjetshistory@Michael_Nania Plus, in 2015 they would have started against a Bengals team with backup quarterback. Didn’t Wilkerson break his leg in the game though?
@ernestdove@NYMNYR1 The trade is a good example of what happens when you constantly turnover the front office. BVW drafted him while Scott viewed him as more of a 4th outfielder-type. It’s not the first time a teenager gets traded in a pennant race and turns into a star.
@Jolly_Olive After the game and taking 4/5 from Braves, I legit thought they were winning the World Series. Everything turned when Scherzer hurt his oblique Labor Day Weekend and Marte broke his finger in Pittsburgh.
@Metsomania_Pod@TalkinMetsNoG I think when they replaced the entire coaching staff, he should have been let go as well. They made him a lame duck. I thought he had potential to be a good manager but the lousy starting pitching had him juggling grenades last year.
@Masterflip_ Honestly, he was a 2-pitch pitcher in the minors who dominated. He does not have enough pitches for major leagues. He needs that cutter or curveball to work.
