💡 DCAF concluded its third data collection mission on policing models & #UrbanSecurity in #Kenya - a study which looks at how current policing models tackles ever-evolving challenges in the urban landscapes, while operating with limited resources. 🔍

In collaboration with @IPOA_KE & @Huria_KE, DCAF's team looked at how #security services were delivered in different sub-counties of both #Nairobi & #Mombasa, meeting over various #police services and #oversight institutions.

Under the coordination of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), @Huria_KE, in partnership with the County Government of Lamu and Lamu Polytechnic, held a one-day follow-up workshop on Lamu Island targeting youth beneficiaries of the business start-up support program.

The session focused on CVE awareness, post-disengagement reintegration, and practical training on enterprise development.

Start-up kits donated by @IOMKenya were officially handed over to support the youth’s transition from vulnerability to productivity—strengthening community resilience and reaffirming the role of sustainable empowerment in Kenya’s broader counter-extremism agenda.

As part of continuous efforts to counter radicalization and enhance youth livelihoods, the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), in collaboration with @Huria_KE and the County Government of Lamu, engaged 35 selected youth representing 350 others in the formal handover of start-up kits to support enterprise development.

The kits, covering areas such as tailoring, beekeeping, carpentry, catering, entertainment, and event organizing, are a key investment in creating sustainable economic opportunities and strengthening community resilience against extremist influence.
