Last week, the Indiana Standardbred Association was honored to welcome Speaker Todd Huston and Representative Cory Criswell to DeLong Stables, one of Indiana's many standardbred training facilities.

The visit highlighted the incredible investment, dedication, and hard work that take place behind the scenes to make Indiana's horse racing industry successful. While race day may be what fans see, it's facilities like DeLong Stables, along with breeders, trainers, veterinarians, implement dealers, feed suppliers, and countless others, that form the foundation of our state's equine industry.

The most recent comprehensive industry study found that Indiana's horse racing industry generates an annual economic impact of nearly $2B, reaching all 92 counties through agriculture, breeding, training, veterinary services, equipment, feed, transportation, tourism, and thousands of jobs.

We appreciate Speaker Huston and Representative Criswell taking the time to see firsthand how strong breeding and training programs help ensure the continued success of Indiana horse racing for generations to come.

Each Friday, starting tonight (weather permitting), a limited number of t-shirts will be placed into Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing regular t-shirt toss. Those who catch the special t-shirts will then be invited to come back and watch the "𝙃𝙊𝙍𝙎𝙀 𝙊𝙁 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙈𝙊𝙉𝙏𝙃" race. Those with the t-shirts are encouraged to wear the shirts for the horse’s next race. If they wear their “Horse of the Month” shirts and the horse wins its race, they will be invited into the winner’s circle and will be part of the post race presentation and photo of the winning horse.

The “𝙃𝙊𝙍𝙎𝙀 𝙊𝙁 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙈𝙊𝙉𝙏𝙃” will change each month and will be announced before the end of the previous month. Gabe Prewitt, vice president and general manager of racing at Harrah's Hoosier Park Racing and Casino, will assist the ISA with selecting the “Horse of the Month” during the 2026 racing season.
