Before the holy night of #Christmas, find one person with whom to make peace. This will be a more precious gift than any that can be bought, because peace is a gift found only in the heart.

R.I. blood supply was low before Brown mass shooting. Blood donors are “urgently needed,” and the Rhode Island Blood Center will be stepping up blood drives this week

NEW: @RIBloodCenter says Type O blood donors are needed, if you can help.
They have provided more than 120 units of blood, platelets and plasma already as RI Hospital took in 9 victims from the deadly shooting at Brown University last night.

@DanMcGowan A state intervention is supposed to have the authority to enact meaningful transformation. I haven’t seen that yet here, nor have I seen a real budget proposal to accomplish that.
@DanMcGowan Are we having meaningful conversations with the unions and employees to get there? What does it look like, what are the meaningful goals and more importantly what’s the budget to get it done? How is money being spent currently and where can we reallocate resources?
@DanMcGowan Now now Dan, let’s not put words in my mouth. We need to be having very real and very tough conversations about what is not happening right now in our schools that are chronically failing. To me, we need serious structural reform to the system, the school day, and lots more.
@DanMcGowan We have consistently given more money for the turnaround — just not at the level the state has demanded we meet due to increases they made statewide. At what point are we just throwing more $ at a problem that we’re not having serious conversations about real structural reform?
@DanMcGowan Reform & change does not always require money, especially when there is no plan or accountability for how those dollars will be spent, when there is decreasing enrollment, and when the tough decisions are not being made on how to deliver a quality education for our kids.
