Last week, coastguards from Canvey Island responded to suspected ordnance found on the mud flats.

It was safely detonated by EOD who confirmed it was a German artillery shell from World War Two.

Don't touch suspected ordnance. Stand back, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
