Uber & Lyft admittedly not meeting the City's requirement for on-demand wheelchair accessible service with impunity. Half of their vehicles have no identification stickers while taxis are sitting ducks for enforcement. We need a reset button at 850 Coxwell. Now.
@KristineHubbard The demand for accessible service will continue to increase as our population ages. The city should be making it easier, not harder, to grow the accessible fleet.
@DShulman_ESPN hey Dan, obscure question: what’s up with the big black mark across Turner’s name on the back of his jersey? It’s been there at least a week. I can’t be the only guy that noticed. Maybe because he’s hitting so well he doesn’t want to change the jersey?
@markoftheD We are maybe 100 years away from a space station on Mars and yet we are fighting medieval wars with 21st-century weapons. Good chance, we blow ourselves back to the middle ages technologically before we become interplanetary
On-demand wheelchair accessible service that is regulated by the City of Toronto is collapsing. The licenses were bait, the vehicles are falling apart and no one can afford to replace them. There are so many things that could have been done better. Uber has 4 of 66K vehicles.
Another taxi driver who had a wheelchair accessible license has purchased a standard in advance of scrapping his wheelchair accessible vehicle in favour of a sedan. No one at City Hall is looking at this. The legacy of John Tory, Tracey Cook & Carleton Grant. Well. Done. #AODA
Let's not forget uber & lyft are operating in conflict with the by law that requires them to offer equitable wheelchair accessible service. I loved lyft's answer - oh ya we can't do that but can we pay money into a fund for someone else to do it? Response from the City:🙈🙉🙊
A full-colour paper flyer has been sent to hundreds (?) maybe thousands (?) of taxi owners in the name of the environment when they CAN'T GET INSURANCE FOR AN EV AS A TAXI EVEN IF THEY WANTED TO. This, in the name of the environment. Who paid for this? #TOpoli#Budget2024
