Hot take
Trading psychology is overrated
And the only reason that trading advice tends to favour psychology over ability is so that gurus can continue to peddle the same low-effort, self-help slop on a daily basis
"You need to control your emotions"
"You need to follow your rules"
"You need to stay patient"
Like those are the primary reasons you're not making money
I can't tell you how many students I've worked with that don't even have a profitable trading strategy or risk management plan
How useless a mentor do you have to be to tell these guys that their main barrier to success is emotional management
Maybe learn how to trade first
Trading ability and trading psychology are intrinsically linked, but emotion is downstream of cognition
You can't just say "learn to stick to the rules of your trading system" if that system isn't even profitable
It's like focussing on chess theory before learning how the pieces move
