Love this new feature - live video streaming for @Uber Teen accounts is rolling out nationwide – giving parents more visibility while their teens are on the go and right in time for school. Proud of our tech teams for making this happen - https://t.co/V0yvu9B1EU
Open-weight models are essential to a healthy AI ecosystem. Together with others across our industry, we are outlining a path for open-weight models to strengthen American competitiveness and expand economic opportunity, while protecting national security. https://t.co/Tr0sAzAxTD
For my first post, I’m sharing a letter @NVIDIA signed on why open models matter.
AI will transform every industry, power every company, and be built by every country.
Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion, and enable sovereignty.
The world needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models.

More than 40 years ago, I arrived in Chicago in search of an idea. I was a young man looking for purpose, who believed deeply in America, was inspired by the Civil Rights Movement, and wanted to be a part of something larger. The America I believed in was one where everyone has opportunity, everyone is seen, everyone belongs—because that was an America that had a place for me, too.
Our GoGet2026 @Uber event was awesome but my favorite moment today has been our reimagine awards that celebrate our teams that build features aligned with our values.
Sad to miss this one in one of my favorite cities🌴... Go @CaitlinClark22! Love to see the momentum behind Women's Preferences— now available to @Uber drivers and riders across the US🇺🇸!!

Were neither shamed in his own
Nor in his neighbors' eyes?”

Agentic software engineering adoption is on fire at @Uber. 1,800 code changes per week are now written entirely by Uber's internal background coding agent, and 95% of our engineers now use AI every month across all the tools we track.
This is a real reset moment for engineering; it's one of the most exciting times to lead. This shift requires builders to be curious and hands-on. I’m incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a team that’s doing exactly that.
The best part is that the strongest adoption isn’t being pushed top down from leadership announcements; it’s coming from engineers who are quietly experimenting, quietly shipping, and quietly pushing things forward.
I love spending time with those engineers because there’s no substitute for being close to the work.
Over the last few months, we leaned in hard, and the results have been phenomenal.
The bigger shift: going agentic.
84% of AI users are now working with agent-style workflows, not just tab completion. Claude Code usage nearly doubled in 2 months (32% → 63%), while IDE-based tools have largely plateaued.
Engineers are moving from accepting suggestions to delegating tasks. Even within traditional IDEs, ~70% of committed code is now AI-generated.
Background agents are writing code autonomously.
Our internal background coding agent went from <1% of all code changes to 8% in just a few months. There is zero human authoring. Engineers review and approve, but the code is written entirely by AI agents.
The role of the engineer is shifting - from writing every line to architecting systems and reviewing AI-generated code.
More to come from the @UberEng team in the coming days.
Today, we’re launching @Uber Autonomous Solutions—a comprehensive suite of services to help our AV partners commercialize, scale faster, and operate at the standard riders expect.
Reverend Jesse Jackson was one of America’s greatest patriots. He spent his life summoning all of us to fulfill the promise of America and building the coalitions to make that promise real.
A son of Greenville, South Carolina, Reverend Jackson first rose to the national stage as one of the young leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. His presidential runs in 1984 and 1988 electrified millions of Americans and showed them what could be possible. From Washington, DC to the Bay Area, from the Mississippi Delta to Appalachia, from South Africa to the South Side of Chicago, Reverend Jackson gave a voice to people who were removed from power and politics. He let us know our voices mattered. He instilled in us that we were somebody. And he widened the path for generations to follow in his footsteps and lead.
As a young law student, I would drive back and forth from Oakland, where I lived, to San Francisco, where I went to school. I had a bumper sticker in the back window of my car that read: “Jesse Jackson for President.” As I would drive across the Bay Bridge, you would not believe how people from every walk of life would give me a thumbs up or honk of support. They were small interactions, but they exemplified Reverend Jackson’s life work — lifting up the dignity of working people, building community and coalitions, and strengthening our democracy and nation. I was proud to partner with and learn from him on this work throughout my career, and I am so grateful for the time we spent together this January. Reverend Jackson was a selfless leader, mentor, and friend to me and so many others.
Doug and I are praying for Jacqueline, their children and grandchildren, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and the millions of people across our country and around the world whose lives he impacted. Today and every day, we will carry forward his call to “Keep hope alive.”
