Today, as Sviatlana @Tsihanouskaya and Belarusian democratic forces visit Kyiv, let us remember all Belarusians persecuted for supporting Ukraine.
There are at least 142 people in Belarus still imprisoned for that. One of them is Vasil Verameichyk, who used to fight for Ukraine. He was extradited to Belarus from Vietnam.
Belarusians #StandwithUkraine. Vasil & all political prisoners must be free.
A Belarusian volunteer, former political prisoner Tsikhan Kliukach, was killed fighting for Ukraine. He was only 23.
After his release from Lukashenka’s prison, Tsikhan chose to defend Ukraine’s freedom against Russian aggression.
We will always remember him as a hero.
I am hurt. Got hit by an explosion. Now I am doing rehabilitation and trying to remeber me and my life. Seems like a bad videogame.

@stochasticman99 I am hopeful too, but with those memories, I have forgotten some important people and situations and found myself in a weird place with weird potential, so I hope it will get better. And friends, I lost important friends contacts.
@stochasticman99 Thanks, I'm doing pretty well
physically. I am working on my walking skills and stretching with some progress. But I have amnesia several months long, and I dont know if memories are coming back.
Sport shouldn’t mean amnesia, and the Olympic movement should help stop wars, not play into the hands of aggressors. Unfortunately, the decision of the International Olympic Committee to disqualify Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych says otherwise. This is certainly not about the principles of Olympism, which are founded on fairness and the support of peace.
I thank our athlete for his clear stance. His helmet, bearing the portraits of fallen Ukrainian athletes, is about honour and remembrance. It is a reminder to the whole world of what Russian aggression is and the cost of fighting for independence. And in this, no rule has been broken.
It is Russia that constantly violates Olympic principles, using the period of the Olympic Games to wage war. In 2008, it was the war against Georgia; in 2014 – the occupation of Crimea; in 2022 – the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. And now, in 2026, despite repeated calls for a ceasefire during the Winter Olympics, Russia shows complete disregard, increasing missile and drone strikes on our energy infrastructure and our people.
660 Ukrainian athletes and coaches have been killed by Russia since the full-scale invasion began. Hundreds of our athletes will never again be able to take part in the Olympic Games or any other international competitions. And yet, 13 Russians are currently in Italy competing at the Olympics. They compete under “neutral” flags at the Games, while in real life publicly supporting Russian aggression against Ukraine and the occupation of our territories. And they are the ones who deserve disqualification.
We are proud of Vladyslav and of what he did. Having courage is worth more than any medal.
@stochasticman99 Thank you! Right now, I am hopeful that I walk again well enough to ride a monowheel well. For the moment, legs got a difference in length from operations.
@olddog100ua AFAIK @Zelensky is an elected president after, Yanukovich was out of office for too much time. And he left to stop violence on Maidan, witch was decent of him. Sign for peace and there will be new elections.
@BohuslavskaKate Countries are basically gangs with own territory, rules and cultural context. Humanizing or dehumanizing all people there is campism. Helps in the time of war, but this was a very long war, showed a lot, and we should push for restoring peace and treating each other with dignity.
Just peace is possible in many formats. Show restraint when using force. Come clean with cooperation and forgiveness, but also accountability and truth. Collective effort is needed to not to turn the future into prison and torture chamber.
Today, our people are coming home. Warriors of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, and civilians. Most of them had been in captivity since 2022.
We are bringing home journalist Dmytro Khyliuk, who was abducted in the Kyiv region in March 2022. At last, he is home, in Ukraine.
Exchanges continue. And this is possible thanks to our warriors, who replenish the “exchange fund” for Ukraine; to our team, which works every day; and to our partners who help. We are grateful to the UAE for their assistance. I thank everyone whose work makes it possible for our people to return home.
We are building a Ukraine strong and powerful enough to live in security and peace. So that here, on this square, on our Independence Square, beneath our flags, on our land, our children and grandchildren will celebrate Independence Day. In peace. In calm. With confidence in the future. With respect. And with gratitude to all those who defended Ukraine in this war for Independence. To those who endured, who prevailed, who gained victory.
Such a goal is worth living for. And this is what we stand for.
Happy holiday to you, great people of a great country!
Happy Independence Day!
Glory to Ukraine!
We need to come clear, but for that we need to stop the war and start talking. That way we can have some justice, but the price of war is huge and the best way to make it happen is to stop doing it and identify unjust or misplaced orders and bad actors. That can happen in any case
