LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASKING ABOUT DRAZAN’S “PLAN.” WELL… HERE IT IS. 🇺🇸

Christine Drazan just released The Drazan Plan, laying out six major areas of focus:

1. LOWER THE COST OF LIVING
Put affordability first. Drazan proposes a Day One affordability order, reviewing regulations that drive up costs, vetoing new taxes and fees, reforming the Corporate Activity Tax, increasing Oregon’s standard deduction, protecting the Kicker, providing property tax relief for veterans and seniors, and more.

2. REIGNITE OREGON’S ECONOMY
Make Oregon “open for business” again by cutting unnecessary regulations, supporting small businesses, investing in infrastructure, prioritizing reliable and affordable energy, strengthening natural resource industries, expanding apprenticeships and CTE, and making Oregon competitive for employers and good-paying jobs.

3. BREAK THE CYCLE OF HOMELESSNESS & ADDICTION
Audit where the billions being spent are actually going and start measuring RESULTS. Prioritize treatment, recovery and long-term sobriety, fully fund State Police, increase penalties for drug traffickers, clean up public spaces and declare a state of emergency on Oregon’s addiction and mental-health crises.

4. UNLOCK THE DOOR TO HOMEOWNERSHIP
Make it faster and less expensive to actually BUILD. Her plan calls for streamlining permits, cutting unnecessary regulatory delays, expanding first-time homebuyer assistance, making more buildable land available while protecting working farmland, and holding government accountable for the number of homes actually built.

5. RESTORE GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Bring back meaningful academic standards. Prioritize reading proficiency by third grade, restore graduation requirements, support teachers in maintaining safe classrooms, strengthen special education, expand school choice and reinforce parents’ rights to know what their children are being taught.

6. AUDIT SPENDING & DELIVER RESULTS
Create a new Office of Government Accountability, audit how state services are being delivered, publish the true costs of government, streamline agencies and permitting, eliminate wasteful spending and start measuring whether government programs are actually producing results.

Portlanders, it's OregonWolf here with boots on and a little Cascade grit and I'm going to give you the straight truth your city hall won't.
You did not vote for this. On December 14, 2016, your City Council approved the Small Donor Elections program by ordinance, and the city's own FAQ admits it was "created by City Council in 2016," not by you at the ballot box.
What did they create? A machine that takes your tax dollars and turns a $5 donation from a Portland neighbor into $50 of public money nine to one on the first $20, by the city's own rules. This year campaigns are even selling it as ten to one on the first $25, so that $5 becomes $55. That's not grassroots, that's government venture capital for politicians.
And you are paying for it while the city is broke. The Elections Commission says the program needs $2.2 million a year to survive, but the budget only gives it $1.3 million. Last cycle the shortfall was pegged at $5.4 million with nearly 80 candidates lining up. That's money that is not fixing potholes, not hiring police, not cleaning camps, it's buying yard signs.
Here's how you lose the people you actually voted for,
First, the system picks the insiders before you do. You have to hit 250 small donations just to qualify, which hands the early advantage to candidates with union halls, nonprofit email lists, and city hall connections. One candidate who walked away put it plainly, it "disproportionately benefits candidates who are already well connected within the progressive movement".
Second, it's being gamed in plain sight. Willamette Week reporting showed candidates emailing each other to swap donations to hit the threshold, and city records show the Small Donor program knew about the swapping as early as Aug. 20 and sat on it for two weeks. That's not citizen power, that's a backroom trade.
Third, when the money ran out, your council slashed the caps by about 60%. A mayoral candidate who could have gotten $750,000 in matches was capped at $100,000. So what happened? The big money didn't disappear it just moved to independent expenditure committees that can take $25,000 checks with no limit. You thought you were getting rid of big donors. You got them in a different suit, with zero accountability to you.
Portlanders, this is why you feel like you vote and get someone else's mayor anyway. The program was designed to make you feel heard while it funds the same network of activists, nonprofits, and city hall staffers who already run the show. Your $5 is used as cover for $50 of your own tax money to prop up a candidate the machine chose months earlier.
You want your vote to matter? Stop letting City Hall launder your wallet into campaign cash. Demand they fund police, not politicians. Demand a vote before they spend millions to pick winners for you. Because right now, Portland's Small Donor program isn't small, it isn't donor driven, and it sure isn't yours. 🇺🇸 🐺

The program means Portland elections now run on a mix of your tax dollars and private big dollar committees and because Portland is the only Oregon city doing this, every tweak, shortfall, and scandal lands squarely on Portland voters to sort out at the ballot box.
