@CustodyVisiting Your kind words are really appreciated and I believe that the ICVA is making an enormous contribution to keeping people in custody safe. Thank you again.

39 men, women and children whose lives were cut short in the most horrific way. Their families must be able to participate in the legal processes to ensure there is the most searching scrutiny of individual deaths & the social & political context that enabled this to happen.
The names of the 39 people who died in the back of a lorry in Essex a few weeks ago have been released. 39 people who were loved and will be missed by family and friends. They are more than a number. We remember them here:
Pham Thi Tra My, aged 26
Nguyen Dinh Lurong, aged 20
BREAKING: The @cpsuk have announced that criminal charges will be brought against two officers involved in the death of Dalian Atkinson. One officer with murder & manslaughter and the second with Actual Bodily Harm. The family welcome the decision.

Thank you ICVA @CustodyVisiting for having me to talk about dignity of ppl in custody from @INQUEST_ORG perspective-thread ↓
Proud to have joined ICVA board! Great to hear today about the (hard) work of scheme managers & the impact of custody visitors https://t.co/zJa2u8pyRp
INQUEST won’t be commenting on content of the Grenfell Inquiry report until the embargo is lifted. We're extremely disappointed by leaks in the media which take away from the opportunity for those affected to have time to consider the report in full & be at the centre of coverage
Today in Trafalgar Square for silent procession to Downing St for annual @UFFCampaign march. Standing with bereaved families in solidarity, sadness & rage against state violence.
Remembering those who have died and honouring those left behind.
No justice. No peace.
“For seven years this family have had to battle against delay, denial and obfuscation. This shameful outcome fails both the family and the public interest." @DebatINQUEST https://t.co/4iYGwxStfL
INQUEST wish to express our profound sadness at the deaths of 39 people, who likely died in the search for a safer better life, and our anger at immigration policies and the hostile environment ultimately responsible for such recurring and preventable tragedies.
The @UFFCampaign annual rally is taking place this Saturday 26 October. Show your solidarity by joining the procession and walking alongside the families and friends of those who have died in state care or custody. Meet at 12 noon at Trafalgar Square https://t.co/stEqwwxG46
Few tears will be shed for this man but we don't have the death penalty in this country and it shames our Prison Service and the Minister responsible that our prisons are currently so under resourced they are this unsafe and cannot protect vulnerable and despised prisoners
There is urgent need for a national oversight mechanism to monitor and audit action taken following deaths to ensure changes are enacted.
There exists a shocking accountability gap that allows lifesaving recommendations to disappear into the ether.

Today we think of those families whose relatives experiencing mental ill health have died in places where they should have been safe. We must invest in specialist mental health services, improve standards of care, and end the stigma. #WorldMentalHealthDay
