I am late on this platform
But Happy Belated #InternationalWomensDay and Happy #WomenHistoryMonth to the amazing woman out here impacting lives and killing the game ๐๐
I am excited to bridge the gap between high school counselors and my college advisers as they strengthen college access for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students throughout the many counties in North Carolina. Thanks for being along for the journey ๐ค
Close to 10 years later - working for Carolina College Advising Corps which is the under the same national organization as Virginia College Advising Corps. Totally floored that I am able to continue my advocacy work for young people in a different capacity.
I had a college adviser from UVAโs Virginia College Advising Corps (VCAC) who walked me through the college application process as a first generation college student. Fast forward, I had the honor to work for VCAC from 2013-2015. It was one of the best decisions of my life.
This is a picture of me, my sis, and my father at UNC Chapel Hill! My parents often took us to college campuses to visit and give us exposure. One of the most shifting moments in my life was in this photo. I was so excited to be on a college campus and dreamed of going to school.
Thankful for the memories. My students and their families transformed my life over the last 5.5 years. I donโt take it lightly that I crafted space that held sacred emotions, thoughts, and dreams. Very honored to have inhabited these spaces and hold the role of school counselor
Thank you once again to Mrs.Conley for working with our scholars!! Today's focus was showing respect and responding to emotions.๐
