@HoraceVBergamot These same people will bemoan the use of ADHD medicine on schoolboys, but turn around and state as fact that "if you have sons, you'd know you have to use physical "force" (spanking/hitting) to contain them"
@AnaKrivolapova Good vagueposting invites conversation, Lindyman's "don't see that much anymore" was good example at that. But I think people are too brain fried/aggro to engage at the moment
Least favorite online trend is soft cancellation vagueposting. "There's something about xyz that doesn't sit right with me," screenshotting someone's words with a terse caption implying ill-doing that is never actually stated, etc. Sometimes when you call these people out early, they delete or say something like "I don't even care that much anyways why are you so mad?", but not after a dozen brain dead NPCs enter the comments with zero context and start parroting the vague finger snapping judgement, and no one involved cares about the actual truth or alleged harm done
"Niles, we're lost. That's the fourth time we've passed by the pile of frankly rather tasteless sheraton armchairs."
"Yes, the style clashes with the yellow wallpaper and endless billowing void. Then again, feng shui might fail to accommodate an open floor plan this... er, OPEN"
War cheerleaders have nothing left to say at this point. They are just hoping people forget about it, but thankfully it's in the news every day and the consequences are in everyone's faces all the time.
BREAKING: Iran announces it is ending all negotiations with the US and vows to "completely" block the Strait of Hormuz, per CNBC.
Iran says it is ending negotiations due to repeated ceasefire violations including Israeli strikes in Lebanon.
Iran also threatens to block the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
@TheNextMazer@JadeAtrophis Not really a response to my claim re: moral conviction/assumed effectiveness of hitting, but yea that is what they seem to be trying to do
@TheNextMazer@JadeAtrophis Not intended as a comment on frequency so much as I'm comparing it to that line of extreme case justification for the norm which relies on the audience lacking deeper moral convictions on the topic
That and again failing to prove the value of hitting over alternatives
@TheNextMazer@JadeAtrophis No one is saying kids never run into a street. It's the comical dependence on depicting it as a constant problem AND that hitting the child is an optimal solution
